Introducing Instagram Stories. In a bold expansion for the company – Instagram will now offer their users  ‘snapchat-like’ stories that disappear after 24 hours. The new feature encourages users to post more frequently (and more candidly), which will more than likely change the fundamental nature of the app which currently has 300 million daily users. People will see stories from accounts they follow in a bar at the top of their feed – from their best friends and their favourite business accounts.

If you’re a Snapchat user you are most likely familiar with the Snapchat stories feature – a unique way of sharing photos and videos with your folllowers. This feature helped supercharge the company’s growth rate, with ‘stories’ fuelling 10 billion daily video views according to Bloomberg.

Owned by Facebook Inc. who are the social networking leader, Instagram have made a smart move in a bid to control more of the market share and close the gap between their competitors.
