‘Chat bot’ Revolutionises Property Searching Online

By Phoebe Bullen

The first Facebook Messenger bot has hit Australian shores with property giant Domain allowing users to drop a location pin into Messenger to find houses for sale in that area.

The bot is accessed by simply typing Domain into the Facebook Messenger app. House hunters can then type in a specific address or drop a pin to instantly receive listing information and property price data. It even allows property searchers to type in a house they walk past to find out the estimated price, even if it’s not currently for sale!

With more than 480,000 Facebook followers and one of the most engaged property pages in the world, being able to tap into their strong social presence was a smart move from the team at Domain!

In an industry and Australian first, Domain offers us a great insight into what we can expect from brands pushing into this space. With over 900 million people around the world using Messenger every month, Bots for Messenger make it possible for developers to become more personal, more proactive and more streamlined in the way they interact.

All developers and businesses are able to build bots for Messenger, and then submit them for review. Facebook are gradually accepting and approving submissions to ensure the best experiencer for their users. We can’t wait to see which Australian tech companies experience with this new platform next!
