Facebook will continue to dominate the Internet with their recent statement announcing that Instant Articles will be rolling out this April. The social media powerhouse announced that it will be opening up Instant Articles to all publishers meaning – in terms of online publishing – users will be able to post direct through the platform.
‘Through Instant articles, publishers post their content direct to Facebook, which means their content loads faster on the network, loads faster on mobile via Facebook’s back-end system capabilities, and generally looks and performs better on the platform via a range of specialized features like improved photos (with zoom and ‘tilt-to-explore’ capacity), autoplay video and interactive maps.’ -Andrew Hutchinson (Social Media Today)
So what does this mean for your brand or business? As an outline, when people come to their favourite website to read content, they will stay on Facebook and not be re-directed. This means it’s a breeze for your business to track qualified leads, traffic, analyse user-experience, online behaviour and interests that will lead to better audience understanding, targeting and advertising.
In line with this, Facebook has lifted previous restrictions around advertising that appeared in Instant Articles. As a result, not only can you drive traffic from mobile properties, but you can also generate further links to other posts, shops, event tickets or database sign ups. Put simply: Facebook, for their part, has stated that their main aim with Instant Articles is to ‘connect people to the stories, posts, videos or photos that matter most to them’.
So in summary, the good news for you is that users will be lured to stay on the Facebook platform for longer, meaning Facebook will be serving them more ads overall- opening up more opportunities for connecting with your brand on social.
