It was only a matter of time before the Facebook-owned Instagram shifted their focus towards video, and showed us how to best utilise this content across the platform. And what better way to do that than with advertising!
Instagram announced that it is trailing the expansion of carousel advertisements to include five separate videos that can be up to 60 seconds long. Initially being trailed on companies like ASOS, AirBnb, and Taco Bell, it is likely that such content advertising will be widely available in the coming weeks.
Carousel advertisements have added additional depth to photo ads and have resulted in consumers spending more time on each ad, leading to increased brand awareness and digital interaction. According to Kinetic Social, carousel ads are driving 10-times more traffic to advertisers’ websites, and combined with video, it is likely that this same success rate will be reflected in Instagram’s new offering.
It is not surprising that this carousel advertisement update is happening in line with the new algorithm update. We know Instagram is preparing for some major changes, and we just cannot wait.
