Pinterest is introducing video advertisements targeted for search results and feeds. This makes sense, given video will be key to increasing Pinterest’s revenue in 2017.
Having linked with Moat and Nielsen to give marketers accurate data through third parties, Pinterest hopes to avoid measurement issues in the advertising game like those we’ve seen with Facebook’s inaccurate statistics recently.
Pinterest will roll out Promoted Videos that autoplay within search results and feeds. Video ads are available in three ways: a self-serve platform for smaller marketers, buying through account managers for high-spending advertisers, and marketing partners buying through Pinterest’s API for something in between.
