Facebook has finally rolled out its new Canvas advertisement option for businesses around the world and this is an exciting new way to engage your target audiences.
Combining video with still images and call-to-action buttons, Canvas allows people to swipe through a carousel of images, tilt to view panoramic images and zoom in to view images in detail. It is an optimization for all digital advertising material by brands. Without a doubt this has been developed for iOS and Android due to the wireframe focused on mobile viewing. Utilising the same technology developed by the Facebook app to quickly download video and images, Canvas will load nearly 10 times faster than the standard mobile web.
By reducing clicks and allowing the advertisement to maintain itself within Facebook, TechCrunch reported impressive results on engagement and viewing: “53% of users that open a Canvas view at least half of it, and the average view time is a stunning 31 seconds. The top Canvas ads can see more than 70 seconds of view time per user.”
Not only will Canvas continue to develop over the next few months as more businesses start to optimise the opportunities for their product, it will also allow for more creativity and smarter promotions. This means that investment in social advertising will only continue to become more critical for brand survival.
